🐝 The Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) will map out how and where nature recovery could take place in Gloucestershire.

The Local Nature Recovery Strategy covers 4 main areas.

  • A list of priority habitats
  • A list of priority species
  • A list of recommendations for how these can be protected
  • A map of priority zones

You can find out more about the local nature recovery strategy online.

This survey will take 10-15 minutes to complete. Your response will be used to inform the priorities and actions which will support the delivery of the LNRS.

Ash Die Back Works on A436 (A40 to Severn Springs)

What: Temporary Traffic Order to close the road for essential Ash Dieback tree work.
Where: A436 – Seven Springs to A40 Jct (see below for the exact location)
When: 29th July – 9th August 2024 inclusive (excluding weekends) from 09.30 to 15.30 daily.

Essential works are due to take place at the above location to remove unsafe trees infected with Ash Dieback.

Ash Dieback disease causes Ash trees to become unsafe; trees could shed limbs or collapse on to the road causing harm and injury. This work must take place for health and safety reasons, to protect road users and pedestrians, and make sure the carriageway remains clear of debris.

Summer 2024 Holiday Activity and Food Programme

Across the district in Bourton = School of Larks and Go Wild with World Jungle / in Tetbury = Tetbury Youth (TAYTC), Go Wild with World Jungle / in Stow = Cotswold Active Camps, Go Wild with World Jungle / Moreton = Bloodhound Engineering, Cotswold Active Camps, / Chipping Campden = Go Wild with World Jungle, Fairford = More Go Wild and Working for Wellbeing events.

We will have tickets for The Kitchen Club where you can make food from scratch, guided family walks, Horses for Wellbeing, Batsford Aboretum and Westonbirt Aboretum, Giffords Circus and Cotswold Farm Park. We stagger the release of some activities so that everyone will get the opportunity to do more activities and we are still waiting on confirmation from some activity providers but as soon as these are confirmed they will be on the website. We will have activities in other areas too and please also be aware that we only have a limited number of places, but keep an eye on the website for activities as they are released.

Northleach Marks D-DAY 80th Anniversary

On Thursday 6th June 2024, the people of Northleach came together to remember those who fought for our freedom on D-Day.

It was 80 years ago since the largest seaborne invasion in history took place. The battle for Normandy that followed would turn the tide of World War Two, and lead ultimately to the defeat of Germany and victory for the allies just under a year later, in May 1945.

The commemoration event at the War Memorial included the reading of the International Tribute by the Mayor and laying of a wreath by members of the Royal British Legion.

A local resident whose father had taken part in the Normandy landings lit the peace lantern. The lantern was then carried to the churchyard and used to light a beacon for Northleach, which had been kindly donated to the town by an anonymous benefactor.

  1. An Election is to be held for a Member of Parliament to serve North Cotswolds Constituency.
  2. Nomination papers can be obtained from the offices of the Acting Returning Officer, Trinity Road, Cirencester, GL7 1PX, during the times stated below.
  3. Nominations papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer at Trinity Road, Cirencester, GL7 1PX on any day after the date of this notice, between 10am and 4pm, but no later than 4pm on Friday 7 June 2024.
  4. The £500 deposit can be paid by legal tender or by means of a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as banker in the United Kingdom or by electronic payment – details can be provided on request.
  5. If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday 4 July 2024.
  6. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Trinity Road, Cirencester, GL7 1PX by 12 midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or contact this office for a paper form.
  7.
