Budget and Precept
Town and Parish Councils issue a precept, which is the amount of money they require from Council Tax payers in their area. The precept requirement is the difference between the Town Council’s estimated income and its expenditure for the financial year (its budget) after taking into account any movements to and from reserves. The Parish Council must by law agree a budget before it can set its precept and send the precept demand to Cotswold District Council by the end of January, so that it can be added to Council Tax bills.
