Northleach Historical Society | What Lies Beneath

6 February 2019 @ 7:30 pm

£3

What is the truth about the tunnels below Northleach? Jonathan Maisey of the Gloucester Speleological Society tells us about his travels underground in the Cotswolds, focusing on Windrush, and considers what may lie underneath other towns and villages.

Members free, visitors welcome (£3).

Photograph is of the main passageway in Windrush Quarry. Stone from this quarry would have been used locally or towns such as Oxford. Most of the passageways are about 6 by 4 feet and small wagons were used to move the blocks of stone, you can see the ruts in the picture.
