Northleach Historical Society ¦ Gloucestershire and the Slave Trade

3 April @ 7:30 pm

£3

Local historian Tony Conder discusses the involvement of Gloucestershire county estates in the Atlantic slave trade – and also in its abolition. We have heard a lot about Bristol and slavery recently, but to what extent were merchants in Gloucester and the rest of the county involved? Then there are the Gloucestershire abolitionists, including Quakers and Baptists, who eventually helped to abolish slavery – but at a cost.

Members free, visitors £3
