Road Closure – A429 Fosseway, Fossecross Junction, June 2017

The A429 Fosse Way will be closed for carriageway resurfacing from Monday 19th June to Friday 30th June (not including weekends), from 0730 to 1730 daily. Attached is a map showing the extents of both the road closure and work areas (Amey Ref 22013836).

The road closure area (dotted red line on map attached) extends beyond the work area to help Amey manage through-traffic, and a signed diversion will be in place. However we will do all we can to provide access for residents and businesses in the road closure area where it extends beyond the work area.

  1. PLEASE – ‘Road Ahead Closed’ signs are absolutely not good enough. This can be any road in the vicinity. Please make it clearer by stating ‘A429 closed ahead’; I felt very sorry for the two men fielding carloads of questioning motorists today who like me had driven right to the closure. They did not know the diversion route. At the very least make sure they have this info – and please make your closure signs much clearer. Thank you.

    1. A disaster. Very poor advance notice – I did not see any notices at all – were there any? Very poorly signposted and not enough diversion signs this morning. Had to return home. By the way the map above is virtually useless – it is completely out of focus, and so hopeless for trying to plan an alternative route. There is also hardly anything on the web about this significant road closure apart from this page!

      1. Thanks for the comment which I have passed to Highways to rectify asap. Sorry about your journey today. kind regards Cat, Town Clerk

  2. Is it actually closed as no maps show the closure? (eg google, Gloucestershire live traffic updates etc)

  3. What an appalling disgrace, why haven’t diversion routes been indicated well in advance of the closure. Why doesn’t the map on the website indicate the alternative routes. Gloucs CC you need to do better, you sit in your ‘Ivory Tower’ funded by the tax-payer, you should be ashamed, we deserve much better service from you
