Northleach Cleans Up!

On Saturday, we were delighted to welcome all the people who turned up to give the Town a really good Spring clean!

Sixty people came to help litter pick across the town, over the playing fields and into the woods. About 25 bags of rubbish were collected plus a number of interesting other items! Some bulkier objects were left in situ and will be collected next week.

Many thanks to the Northleach and Fosse Lions who helped us organise this event and provided the cakes for us to enjoy. A big thank you to the Northleach Pavilion who supplied the hot and cold drinks at the end of the event.

Would you like to help us on a regular basis? We now have a number of litter pickers and hi viz jackets so would love to hear from anyone who could do an occasional clean in their area. Thank you to all those who already assist with this.

Many thanks again to the helpers.

Kind regards
Cat Crompton, Town Clerk

Northleach Spring Clean, Help Us Clean Up the Town

This year’s litter pick will take place on Saturday 21st April, on the Queen’s birthday. Please join us to help clean up the town!

The clean will take place 10am – 12 noon with refreshments (and cake) being served at the Pavilion afterwards.

We will be meeting at 9.45am to hand out equipment (litter pickers, gloves, bags, hi viz) and give a short safety briefing. Please wear sturdy shoes, weather appropriate clothes and bring any suitable equipment of your own.

Please let us know if you are available to help – so we can gauge numbers on equipment and refreshments – by emailing the Clerk at clerk@northleach.gov.uk or calling 01451 861499.

The litter pick is being organised by the Town Council together with the Northleach and Fosse Lions Club. Collected rubbish will be disposed of by Cotswold District Council.

Kind regards

Northleach Great British Spring Clean – FAQ

Thank you to all those who have volunteered for the Great British Spring Clean, and if you haven’t told us yet, don’t worry please just turn up on Saturday 8th April at 10am. We will be gathering on the playing field by the school car park.

Some common questions!

Q   Can I bring my children / grandchildren?
A  Absolutely! Children are most welcome and it’s a great way to get them involved. Please make sure they are dressed appropriately (kids gardening gloves would be useful) and they must be supervised by an adult. They will love our magnetic litter pickers and can have a drink refreshment afterwards!

Q   Do I need to bring any equipment?
A   We have a good selection of Hi-Viz jackets (including kids ones from the school), gloves, litter pickers and bin bags. We don’t know how many volunteers will turn up so if you have any of these items please bring them.

Q    What should I wear?
A    Make sure you are dressed for the weather on the day. You won’t be asked to work in places you are uncomfortable with but sturdy shoes and old clothes are recommended. The areas we hope to cover include the roads, hedges, grass verges, the playing field and woodland edges.

Q   Where can I get a drink refreshment after the event?
A    We are delighted so many of our businesses are supporting the event. We will hand out refreshment tokens at the start and then you will be able to get tea / coffee / squash refreshments when you have finished. Many thanks to the following for supporting us -The Black Cat, The Ox House, The Cotswold Lion Café, Fruitcakes, The Mechanical Museum and The Northleach Pavilion

See you on Saturday at 10am!

Kind regards,
Cat Crompton
