Town Councillor Vacancies May 2017

We currently have a councillor vacancy, which we will be looking to fill at our May meeting on May 24th following the resignation of Neil Fletcher. If you are interested in this vacancy please let me know by 5pm on Monday 15th May. A second vacancy will be advertised shortly as Carol Davies has also now stepped down after many years of service. We thank both of them for all their hard work and wish them both all the best.

Northleach with Eastington Town Council has wide-ranging responsibilities including the Westwoods Centre, town allotments, Neighbourhood Plan, bus shelters, cemeteries, closed churchyard, Pavilion, playing field, play areas, planning applications, Charter Market and grass cutting, to name a few.

The scope of work for Parish and Town Councils is enormous and whilst they may not appear to be as high profile as the County and District Councils, they can influence the issues that affect people in their immediate area and their day to day lives. We work closely with both the District and County Council to help deliver benefits to our residents, increase efficiency and cut costs.

If you are interested in helping your community and would like to find out more then please:

  • Come along to our next Town Council  on Wednesday 24th May (7pm at The Westwoods Centre);
  • Contact the Clerk on this email for an informal chat or;
  • Contact one of the councillors whose details are on our notice boards at the Westwoods and in the Market Place and on our website.

Kind regards,
Cat Crompton

Clerk

Councillor Vacancy – Application Process

The vacancy notice has now expired and no election was called to fill the vacancy on the Town Council. Therefore the Councillors have agreed the following. Any person interested in the position should write a letter expressing why they would like to join the Town Council and what they could bring to the role.

Further information on what the Town Council and Councillors do is on the website www.northleach.gov.uk/your-town-council/ or feel free to approach on of the existing councillors whose details are also on the notice boards in the Market place and Westwoods Centre. We are seeing exciting times with the Neighbourhood Development Plan under way and next May the whole Council face local elections.

Please send any applications to me or drop them into the Westwoods office by Friday 13th June.

Kind regards

Councillor Vacancy

Dear all,

Following the resignation of Lucy Roberts a few months ago, the councillor vacancy has been advertised locally by Cotswold District Council. Their notice was to see whether 10 or more residents wished the vacancy to be filled through an election. They have notified us that there was no call for an election and therefore the Town Council can co-opt a new councillor themselves.

The Town Council will be discussing at this Thursday’s Town Council meeting (7pm at the Westwoods) how they would like to fill this vacancy.

If you are interested in applying for this role or would like more information, please contact the Clerk on this email address.

kind regards
Cat Crompton
