Adapted Property in Northleach Available Soon

Bromford have a property in Macarthur Road which used to be leased on a commercial basis to a care organisation. Since this has come back into their stock, they have been working to convert into residential accommodation which is fully adapted for customers with a disability.

Bromford says : “We are having an ‘Open House’ at the property at 32 Macarthur Road on Tuesday 31st January from 12pm to 3pm. Everyone is most welcome to drop in and have a look around. This would benefit a family in the locality who would benefit from moving to an adapted home.”

The property will be advertised on Gloucestershire Homeseeker and priority will be given to those families bidding who need the adaptations. If you would like to be considered, register with Gloucestershire Homeseeker or speak to Cotswold District Council Housing Advice Team on 01285 623000. Further information in the leaftlet below.

Information on Local Housing Availability

The work at Bicknell Close (formerly Fortey House) is almost complete. The development by Bromford Group consists of homes to rent and homes to buy. I have attached leaflets (below) from Bromford giving contact details for both the rented and sales homes.

Homes for sale: There are still 2-bed and 3-bed homes available to buy so if you are interested please call the number on the Bromford sales leaflet 0845 6010 878 for more information.

Homes for rent:  we have not been able to get definitive information from Bromford on whether there are still homes available for rent so please call Gloucester Homeseeker for details of these and other local properties to rent – there is a currently a one-bed bungalow in Fortey Road available. You need to be registered with them to apply for these properties.

If you are interested but not sure if you qualify we would strongly advise that you call and ask the advisors on the numbers attached. The Town Council is keen that local people and those with a Northleach connection get the opportunity to buy or rent these properties.

Fortey House – affordable housing consultation

Dear All,

Hopefully you will have received a leaflet over the last few weeks from Bromford Housing the owners of Fortey House, a former older-person housing scheme in Northleach. The site is set to be transformed into 24, two and three bedroom homes available to local people by affordable housing provider Bromford.

Plans for the new development will be on show at a special ‘drop in’ consultation event in the Cotswold Hall anytime between 3pm and 7pm on the 17th July, with local residents and those interested in the homes being urged to attend to share their views on the proposals.

Representatives from Bromford’s development and housing teams will be on hand to provide advice and answer questions on how to apply for the homes, how Bromford’s unique ‘Deal’ works, and any impact construction may have on local residents.

Bromford project manager Sarah Walker, who will be managing the development of the site, acknowledges that the Fortey House has hit a number of barriers in the past but hopes with community support, much needed affordable housing can be created in the Cotswold’s. She said: “Bromford would like to take this opportunity to apologise to those who live near Fortey House for the delays in redevelopment. Unfortunately, the loss of funding and various other issues prevented us from pushing the scheme forward as quickly as we wanted. “However, I’m pleased to say we’re now investing heavily in bringing affordable homes to Northleach and have organised this event to share plans with the local community, and those interested in moving into these homes.

The consultation event will take place on Wednesday 17th July in the Cotswold Hall, West End, Northleach GL54 3HE (opposite the Wheatsheaf Hotel), feel free to drop by anytime between 3pm and 7pm.

If you are unable to attend the event you can find out more at or by calling The Housing Advice Centre at Cotswold District Council on 01285 623300 for advice on eligibility and registration.

Kind regards,
Cat Crompton
