When snow falls or ice is forecast, there’s a few things you can do to keep your home and community safe.

Refuse, food waste and recycling collections for week commencing Monday 26 December 2022 will run one day late due to no collections taking place on Boxing Day. In Northleach FOOD bins will be emptied Saturday 31 December.
Collections for week commencing Monday 2 January 2023 will take place as normal, including on Bank Holiday Monday.
In Northleach our first collection of BLACK bins and RECYCLING bags and box after Christmas will be Friday 6 January. Green bins won’t be emptied until Friday 20 January 2023.
Please note: the garden waste service is suspended from Monday 26 December 2022. Collections will resume on Monday 9 January 2023.
Various local sections of the A40 will be closed temporarily for ash dieback tree felling. The works generally take place between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 on a rolling programme commencing 5th December 2022 where the presence of approved signage will indicate whether the closures and restrictions are in force.
The section nearest to Northleach is expected to be completed between 12th December to 20th December 2022 inclusive, (excluding weekends)
from 09:30 to 15:30 daily, there will be a two-way temporary traffic light system set in place, rather than a full closure with diversion route. Essential Ash Dieback work is to be completed at 2 different identified areas along this route.
Further advance warnings of dates/times will be displayed on site prior to the closures and restrictions taking effect. This order can permit the closure and restriction of the roads in any order, or simultaneously as required and it is anticipated all works will be completed by 24th March 2023.

There will be a temporary closure of a section of Farmington Road from 21 November 2022 to 2 December 2022 to allow for utilities works by Gigaclear. Emergency access will be maintained. Pedestrian access will NOT be maintained. Please see attached notice for details.

Cotswold District Council has launched its budget consultation and wants your views on how they manage council finances. Their aim is to deliver high quality services and continue to care for the Cotswolds despite the challenges of the rising cost of living.
From today until Friday 9 December they are holding a consultation on their 2023/24 budget proposals which include plans for how they will weather the storm of cuts to local government funding. The council has lost around 60% of core government funding over the past decade but still want to act on the things that matter to residents including affordable homes, climate change and strengthening our local economy.

Friends of the Cotswolds awarded a grant of £235,000 by The National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to create a range of volunteer-led projects over the next 2.5 years- Rooted in the Community: The Old Prison
NORTHLEACH – 21 October 2022 – The Friends of the Cotswolds has received a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £235,600 for an exciting heritage project; Rooted in the Community: The Old Prison. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project focuses on reconnecting the Old Prison in Northleach to the local community and bringing its heritage to new audiences.
The project will start in November 2022, and over the course of 2.5 years, will deliver a range of developments at the Old Prison including a Community Wellbeing Garden, an Education Programme working with local primary schools, an Oral History Project and events and exhibitions in partnership with Corinium Museum and Gloucestershire Constabulary Archives.
Supported through The National Lottery Heritage Fund, the project will enable people of all ages to engage with their local heritage and explore the roots of this important heritage site. There will be many opportunities for volunteers to get involved and learn new skills with full training provided; new roles will cover all elements of the project with something for everybody.
The Friends of the Cotswolds is an organisation that works to protect and enhance the region’s unique environment, heritage and culture. Having bought the Old Prison in 2013, the Friends have worked over the past decade to ensure it remains open to the community and will now take the site forward to connect local people with the fascinating heritage of the Old Prison.
Commenting on the award, David Rockey said: “We are thrilled to have received this support thanks to National Lottery players and are confident the project will support more people to connect with the Heritage of the Old Prison.”
