Further to our previous communication that the footway alongside the closed road (old A40) at Northleach was to be closed, the material deposited within the field and compacted against the wall is now sufficient to enable Gloucestershire Highways to consider that the risk of temporary footpath failure on the other side of the carriageway to the wall has been satisfactorily mitigated.
Therefore, there is no longer a requirement to close the temporary footpath. They will continue to monitor and inspect the carriageway and temporary path to ensure it remains safe for use. However, if their operatives happen to notice any further significant cracking the footpath will be closed again.
