Councillor Vacancies – Can you help?

Dear all,

The Town Council have 2 vacancies for Councillors and are really keen to fill these as soon as possible.

The Council has wide ranging responsibilities, making decisions for residents on a very local level. Responsibilities include The Westwoods Centre, the Pavilion and playing field, play areas and water meadow, most of the Town’s grass cutting, the Cemetery and the allotments. In addition we spend a lot of our time liaising with Cotswold District Council and Gloucestershire County Council.

We also have ad hoc sub committees or working groups. Over the last few years these have included the Community Litter Pick, Staffing Group, Play Area project, MUGA working Group and Winter Planning.

There are certain criteria in order to apply:
1) The minimum age for councillors and candidates is 18 – this has changed from 21
2) All members are required to complete a Register of Interests document for the website
3) Anyone being co-opted should be able to confirm at least one of the following reasons (a –d).
a. I am registered as a local government elector for the area of the parish/town named above in respect of (qualifying address in full):
b. I have during the whole of the 12 months preceding that day or those days occupied as owner or tenant the following land or other premises in the parish/town (description and address of land or premises):
c. my principal or only place of work during those 12 months has been in that parish/town at (give address of place of work and, where appropriate, name of employer):
d. I have during the whole of the last 12 months resided in that parish/town or within 4.8 kilometres of it at (give address in full):
If you would like more information please contact me or one of the Councillors whose details are on the boards or www.northleach.gov.uk or myself on clerk@northleach.gov.uk.

Kind regards,
Cat
