Chairman’s Letter June 2019

Hello Everyone.

This is a quick note about what went on at the Town Council meeting this month. You can read all of the detail in the formal minutes when they’re published but I thought it might be useful to give you some highlights:

We elected a new Chairman for the year in May – that’s me, Rob Platts, and I am looking forward to working with you to help Northleach continue to develop for everyone in the town. Alan Wellman was elected as Vice Chairman and so we have some good experience working together.

We were informed of some roadworks in the area. It’s worth checking on the County Council website for details but, as a heads-up, the A429 around Fossebridge will have some overnight closures (7pm – 7pm) from 28th June to 11th July . . . so watch out!

Now that we have completed the main play area on the King George V Playing Field, we are kicking-off two projects in the town: The Ward Road Play Area and an Adult Exercise Area. The leaders of each of these projects will be reporting back to us all on their progress in the coming months.

We are installing the latest defibrillator on the Pavilion on the King George V Playing Field and have started a project to fund a further unit for the Market Square. I think this should now cover us for this type of emergency in the town – let us know if you think we need more.

Also, following your requests, we are progressing a new seat and a new rubbish bin on the King George V Playing Field between the zip wire and the playground – hopefully useful to parents with kids on both things.

We will continue to attend a Councillor Surgery each month for people to come and meet us in an informal setting to share any comments or issues. We have had mixed attendance at these sessions but we will offer this opportunity to meet for the next few months– please come along if you are interested – The next one is on Saturday July 6th at the Westwoods Centre from 11:00 to 12:00.

All formal meeting minutes and other information are on the Town Council website www.northleach.gov.uk – please get in touch with the Clerk if you have any issues or concerns either by email on clerk@northleach.gov.uk, or you could come to the next monthly Councillor Surgery meeting first Saturday each month or the next Town Council meeting on Wednesday 24th July 2019 – 7 pm at the Westwoods Centre. Until then, I hope this brief update is useful.
Cllr Rob Platts
