Northleach with Eastington Town Council
Many of us older ones in Northleach are now largely self-isolating.
Would it be possible for local food shops and chemist to deliver to our homes, maybe using staff laid off from the Wine bar, pubs, Black Cat etc?
I am aware there are many such initiatives elsewhere in the country being set up at present?
Could the Council get this off the ground? – it would be good for local businesses.
Thank you for your e-mail. I will forward your ideas to Rob our Chair. I believe The takeaway in the Market Place has launched some extra services which include delivery of meals which they will continue to do as long as they are allowed to. The chemist has always provided a delivery service for medicines and will, I’m sure be aware of people who will need this service at this uncertain time.
There was a meeting involving various interested parties and organisations on Friday and I’m sure we will hear more about this. With the government restricting peoples’ movements they will be very aware that elderly and other vulnerable people who may need extra help. Once again thank you for taking the time to contact us.
Thank you for your reply.
Two other points:
Firstly, many people isolated at home are very dependent on their daily newspaper. Fruitcakes is delivering to a few established customers, but a wider delivery service, maybe fruitcakes and the Cotswold Stores working together would be very welcome to many.
Secondly, Northleach shops are sometimes crowded, even now, – could there be a system where only one customer is allowed in at once? – thus preserving vital social distancing.
