Northleach Historical Society | William Morris and the Pre-Raphaelites
2 March 2016 @ 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
£3The scheduled talk by Dr David Vaisey on Treasures of the Bodleian Library has been postponed.
Instead we invite you to hear Elizabeth Hudson Evans on the enduring legacy of William Morris and the Pre-Raphaelites.
Novelist, conservationist, socialist, brilliant designer of fabrics and wallpapers, Morris was a key figure in the Arts and Crafts Movement whose home at Kelmscott Manor near Lechlade remains a shrine for lovers of the Pre-Raphaelites. Morris was close to Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti (who famously had an affair with Morris’ wife Jane), and devoted himself passionately to the arts and to conservation, founding the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
Members free, visitors welcome (£3).
