Historical Society | Helping our Heroes: Gloucestershire Hospitals in WW1

1 June 2016 @ 7:30 pm

£3

During the First World War a hundred years ago the Red Cross set up some 30 Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) hospitals throughout Gloucestershire to treat wounded soldiers returning from the front – some in great houses, others in schools and church halls, even at Cheltenham race course. Geoff North, a local historian, tells us the stirring story of the women who volunteered to be VAD nurses and their vital contribution to the Great War.

Members free, visitors welcome (£3)
