Did you know that scarlet cloth from Stroud once provided the uniform of the British Army, or that green Gloucestershire cloth still covers snooker and pool tables around the world? Following our September talk on Italy and the wool trade, Ian Mackintosh tells us about the hundreds of mills which went on to make world famous cloth in the Cotswold river valleys collectively known as Stroudwater. Members free. Non-members welcome for just £3.
