A40 Road Closure for Joint maintenance to Farmington Road Bridge

Message from Gloucestershire Highways

Joint maintenance – Farmington Road Bridge

Gloucestershire Highways will shortly be carrying out essential joint maintenance of the bridge located at Farmington Road.

The works are due to take place between 12th and 16th September overnight from 7pm to 7am.

To ensure the safety of road users and our workforce, it will be necessary for us to close the A40 to through traffic because of size of machinery that will be used.
A diversion route will be signed along the route. Advance signs will be erected at the bridge to warn road users.

If you have any queries, please email  highways@gloucestershire.gov.uk.

Footway Improvement Works Starting 1 August

Residents will have seen signs advising of roadworks due to start on 1 August for 5 weeks. Gloucestershire County Council is carrying out footway improvement works along West End, High Street and East End. Traffic flow will be controlled by traffic lights and stop and go signs.

Please find attached the traffic management plan of the works taking place. There currently is no specific timescale for each section as this could change on a daily basis as it is dependent on many factors.

For more information on planned roadworks across the county see the Gloucestershire Roadworks map.

Roadworks Affecting A429 31st August until 15th September

ROADWORKS NOTIFICATION: Temporary Traffic Order to close the A429 Fosseway, Northleach for carriageway resurfacing.

When: For approximately 12 Nights (excl. weekends) between the hours of 19:00 to 07:00

The PLANNED start and end dates are currently Tuesday 31st August to Wednesday 15th September, however keep an eye on the web page detailed below or the signs on site for any short notice changes.
Works are planned to be completed in 2 Phases in an attempt to minimise the overall impact.  Whilst works are carried out on Phase 1, Phase 2 which includes the A40 will remain open.  Once works start on Phase 2 both Phases 1 & 2 areas will be closed.

Highways resurfacing programmes are dependent on several factors. They can be affected by things like; heavy rain, changes in temperatures and other weather events as well as plant breakdown and unforeseen technical issues that arise once work has begun.  All this means scheme dates and details can change at short
notice. Gloucestershire Highways appreciate that this is inconvenient, their online schedule and our social media feeds will be updated with more details if changes happen.  There is a useful Q and A about road closures here.   The diversion route information is here.

Don’t Fall Victim to Travel Fraud

Following a year of travel bans, quarantine, uncertainty and missed holidays, many of us are desperate to get away for a break, whether it’s a holiday in the sun or a weekend by the sea in the UK.
Cybercriminals are busy thinking about holidays and travel too – not taking them but exploiting your desperation for a break, with fake websites, advertisements, emails, social media posts, texts and phone calls for holidays, flights, accommodation or pilgrimages that don’t exist. The link below takes you to a handy leaflet with lots of tips to ensure your holiday or travel booking is safe.

Gloucestershire Youth Travel Survey – Can you Help?

Parents of young people aged 10-25 are being asked to help promote and encourage young people to complete this survey. In conjunction with Stroud District Youth Council, the Gloucestershire Community Rail Partnership (GCRP) are seeking the views and opinions of all young people (between the ages of 10 and 25) in which to assess and improve transport across the county.

This is particularly relevant as we look forward to rebuilding our lives and communities hit by the pandemic. Participants will even have the chance to win one of four vouchers up to £50 in value! Access the survey here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/GlosYouthTravelSurvey/
