World Jungle is Back in Northleach this Summer

We have rececived the following information:

Planning underway for a fantastic summer of fun!

World-Jungle-Summer-Off-the-Streets-2016With the promise of summer just around the corner, planning is already well underway to offer children, young people and families across the Cotswolds a fun programme of activities to enjoy over the holiday period .

Local community and arts organisation World Jungle is delighted to have received support from Gloucestershire County Council’s Children’s Activity Fund to run Summer Holiday Activity Programmes for children and families to enjoy in Bourton-on-the-Water, Northleach and Stow-on-the-Wold this August.

Each of the ‘week-long’ programmes will include a combination of indoor and outdoor activities using community venues and local green spaces, and culminate in a large Family Fun Day event on Friday 26th August with a whole range of fun activities to enjoy.  Ben Ward from World Jungle said:

“We are really excited to have the opportunity to run these programmes which build on the successful schemes we have delivered across the county over the past few years. The activities taking place throughout each week will include a range of things to suit all tastes, including circus skills, sports and games, drama workshops, cookery workshops, arts & crafts, African drumming and more.  We want to inspire kids to get active, learn about healthy behaviours, try new things… and of course have lots of fun over the summer holidays.”

The funding was made available under the ‘Children’s Activity Fund’, a grant scheme from Gloucestershire County Council encouraging more sport and physical activity across the county.  The holiday programmes have the backing of the local councillors for each of the areas: Cllr Paul Hodgkinson (Bourton and Northleach) and Cllr Nigel Moor (Stow on the Wold).  Councillor Paul Hodgkinson said:

“I am really pleased to be able to support this Summer Activity Programme which proved so popular with children and families last summer, providing a range of affordable activities in the heart of our community.  I am especially pleased that the programme is providing so many free events for families to just turn up at and participate.  We hope the programme will help families and encourage children to get active this summer, make use of our parks and green spaces and get involved and enjoy  a range of activities.”
