£100,000 is available through the county’s Area Based Grant to run a small grants programme during 2010/11 to help us deliver the Integrated Youth Offer – “Things to do, places to go” – across the county.  As the name suggests, the aim is to provide young people between the ages of 13 – 19 years with positive alternatives to just hanging around and also to prevent them being tempted into potentially anti social behaviour.

The Cotswold district has been allocated £13,500 as its share of the grant. The funding will be allocated and managed by the Cotswold Children and Young People’s Thematic Partnership and needs to be spent by 31 March 2011.

Our aim is to seek bids from voluntary and community groups to provide projects and/or services that will meet the aims of the Youth Offer (please see appendix A for details).  Please note that some local aims have been added and are included in the appendix.

We are not putting an upper limit on the value of your bid but please bear in mind that our allocation of £13500 needs to help deliver the Youth Offer across the district, not just in one to two places. This is more likely to be achieved through a number of smaller projects than one very large one.

Match funding is not a requirement but will clearly help the funding stretch as far as possible. For example, bids are also currently being invited for NHS Glos Small Grants funding and it may be that your proposed project has a health angle that would be eligible for funding from this source.

Our main focus will be on supporting new projects and initiatives but we will consider applications from last year’s projects as long as it is for new work or activities that show you are building on success ( as demonstrated your end of project report) and bidding for a development or extension of what you already provide. We are keen to encourage sustainability of projects in this way but please note that funding is for one year only and it is likely that this funding stream will not be available after 2011.

To make a bid, please read the attached documents carefully and then complete and return the bid form to me by 5pm on Friday 25th June 2010. All bids will be assessed by the Cotswold Children and Young People’s Thematic Partnership and successful bidders will be informed by Friday 2nd July 2010. If your bid is successful, we will ask you to sign a letter of  agreement which will describe the outcomes to be achieved and how these will be monitored and evaluated.
