In April 2017, the Town Council published a Town Design Statement. This document describes the visual character of our town, and how it might be protected or enhanced. It is primarily concerned with architecture and landscape features in the town. The document will provide design guidelines for new development in Northleach.

The Design Statement can be adopted by the local planning authority as supplementary planning policy. In this way, we will be able to manage change as the town expands. The Design Statement deals with one aspect of planning policy and will become part of the Neighbourhood Plan in due course. Why both? The Neighbourhood Plan is more powerful, but will take much longer to put together.
