NORTHLEACH & DISTRICT EVERGREEN CLUB
The
club is for senior citizens and the opening paragraph of our clubs'
constitution document reads as follows :- The objects of the club shall
be to provide facilities for education and physical and mental
recreation, for the benefit of the members.
The committee may admit any person who is 55 years of age and over who
live within the clubs' area. The committee may also, upon
recommendation, consider for membership any disabled person who is under
the afore-mentioned age. Club meetings take place on alternate Fridays'
in the Cotswold Hall commencing at 2.30pm until between 4.30 and 5pm.
0ur programme co-ordinator provides copies of programmes in two parts,
January to the end of June and July to December. The speakers cover a
wide range of subjects such as musical entertainment, items of great
interest, sometimes most helpful, such as the retired policeman who
talked about security in the home, our members asked many questions and
went home with a great deal of knowledge.
Then there are talks with
slides about travel around the world etc., etc, During the spring and
summer season we do have coach trips. Members enjoy their afternoon tea
before the meeting closes. We are proud of the companionship our club
generates in large measure.
The club is financed through members subscriptions and the
occasional donation.
