Church Men's Breakfast
Imagine waking up, thinking today will be a
normal day then for no reason other than you were in the wrong
place at the wrong time, you are arrested for murdering someone
you never met! You are interrogated, charged, beaten by inmates
so badly whilst on remand that you end up in hospital and then
before you've time to catch breath you're
sentenced to 7 years in prison for a crime you never committed!
This is the story of Noel Fellowes who spoke to an enthralled
audience at the men's breakfast in February, the story of a man
who went through what can only be described as a nightmare, a
man who now travels around the world telling people how good God
has been to him!
Noel Fellowes talked of his journey from disbelief, via fear,
terror and anger to hatred and eventually true forgiveness of
the Police officers who withheld his watertight alibi in order
that they could say they always got their man.
What was most compelling about his story was that it was not the
taking away of 7 years of his life that tormented him most, but
the hatred he held inside, which came out in nightmares that
tore him apart. But thankfully, Noel's mother and brothers were
Christians, and they didn't give up on him.
His brother John
gave him a Bible that sat by his bedside, which he eventually
read and his brother Roger challenged him to find out what God
was saying to him So he went to Church, an alien environment,
but one where people showed their love for each other and for
him. Whilst there something inside changed - his nightmares
stopped and he started his -New Life' - not an easy life it
being tough trying to make the 'right' decisions every day, but
a life that would lead to forgiveness. A new life because he
dared to read the bible!
